Plan Your Entrepreneurial Journey
Every entrepreneur needs a plan.
Some would argue that planning is for ‘loser’ – Entrepreneurs get their success by grabbing opportunities when the right ones pass by, sometimes accidentally.
I’ll say – even luck has to be planned to come often!
Why entrepreneurship has to be planned
Planning for entrepreneurial journey is like planning for traveling.
In travelling, particularly backpacking, you set the destination, including when you will reach that destination. All for one purpose – to travel comfortably, knowing what to expect and how to enjoy your travel.
Moreover, planning for traveling includes looking for shortest routes and resource preparation – necessities, tools, map, etc.
Entrepreneurial journey shares the same concept – you plan for shortest route to reach your entrepreneurial goals and prepare the resource to embark on your journey.
By planning, you can think about multiple routes to take. You are not only having Plan A and Plan B, but also Plan C, Plan D, and so on.
Bottom line, planning your entrepreneurial journey helps you expect the unexpected.
Tips on planning for your entrepreneurial journey
Here’s a few tips for you:
- Always carry around a note and a pencil with you – when ideas and opportunities accross you, take note – use them as your ‘destination’.
- Visualise your plan by creating a diagram, and put it on your home or office wall. Again, visualise your goals and milestones by writing the down, in big letters, and put it on your home or office wall.
- Create mini business plans on business ventures you are about to take – treat them like a diary – or a blog if you prefer.
- Always have an exit strategy for each of your business idea.
- Try to stick to your plan. However, should any unexpected arises, grab them! Entrepreneurs should be creative and act beyond what’s planned :)
