thanks for the comments. The numbers I see do seem to point to about 1 in 4-6 that want to sell and actually sell. You are probably like me and always trying to beat those odds. Your comment on real estate is well taken- most all real estate will sell when priced accordingly- not all businesses will…. regards Scott

Good post Scott. I am work in business brokerage in Canada and can relate to point #2 that not businesses listed for sale will sell. Many business owners have trouble realizing just how illiquid the business re-sale market is, relative to real estate sales. Thx.

Buying a business is a great idea if entering that sector with no previous knowledge, but surely more money can be made starting from scratch.

jord- It is a very very big decision. Many contemplate the idea, only a very small percentage act on those ideas.
