		<description>Danny - I think you&#039;ve hit the nail firmly on the head here.  Too many folk think that directory submissions are the way to go - I can only see the benefit of directory submissions (not talking about DMOZ etc) that not only offer domain rank, but also significant page rank for the category that the site is submitted to, and even this is balanced out by how many OB links are featured on that page.
I am amazed for instance by the tactics of a certain (it shall remain nameless) self-titled &quot;top&quot; UK Seo firm that offers differing packages for clients based upon 1000&#039;s of low to no value directory submissions.
Their clients buy into this, and yes based upon thousands of keyword related backlinks they do get results, but I wonder if if they are building their clients&#039; ranking foundations on sinking sand and are simply leaving themselves open to attack from competition willing to search that little bit harder for much much fewer, but quality backlinks.  Although I&#039;ve had 10 years experience in the web game and am a relative noob to SEO in the grand scheme of things, even I can see its qaulity over quantity everytime.
And whilst we&#039;re at it, don&#039;t even get me started on article submission...!</description>
