Many service-based businesses these days are looking into online appointment scheduling systems in order to offer online appointment booking on their websites. Business owners seem to have the expectation that this will generate new customers. I’m thinking of starting an online booking system, but still looking for ideas to see if it justifies or will work efficiently or not – I’m in the therapy/clinical business, and most of the times our clients want to deal with human factor at the end of the line instead of an automated system. Will try though, no matter what – maybe can throw in something like “book online for 5% discount?”

I’m thinking like what they do in travel industry – book online for a massive discount. Your profit margin may be significantly less, but you secure a lead on the spot – which mean a way much better conversion rate compared to walk-in customer.
That’s true – I think that’d be effecting profits in volume rather than quality right, perhaps can add more by adding travel related “packages/extras” such as travel companions, maps etc too =)
