Do women make better entrepreneurs than men? Not trying to stir gender issues, but I would like to take this opportunity to salute women entrepreneurs. Despite all the inherited limitations the business world gives them, women entrepreneurs thrive in today’s business world.

An interesting article by Huffington Post – along with a fascinating infographic presented by Amex – shows that while women’s role in the business world is increasing along time – now owning 29 percent of businesses in the US, according to a report by American Express, their businesses only contribute 4 percent of total US business revenue.

Part of the reason, according to the Huffington Post article, is due to the difficulty in securing considerable amount of venture capital. According to Kauffman Foundation, women entrepreneurs receive 80 percent less capital than men.

Check out this infographic released by AMEX, showing the challenges women entrepreneurs must face and opportunities they must capitalise on:

Takeaway

Indeed, there are big challenges ahead that each and every women entrepreneur must overcome in order to be achieve greater success. Regardless of the real problem in difficulties in obtaining capital, entrepreneurs – by nature – must be able to raise capital from other sources, as well as solving other problems.

On the positive side, those challenges will eventually make women entrepreneurs stronger – and more creative in solving business issues.

So, be sure to share the infographic above in your blog, social media account – anywhere (just like what I did) and be proud that you, budding women entrepreneurs, play an important role in US – and global – economic growth.
