Small business owners are known as the true hero's of American Economy. Entrepreneurs are encouraged just because they create at least 2 or 3 employment instantly. I don't think, small business icon is something which is insulting.

Melisa,

Good point... and about classifications on which you define small, medium and large, they are really vague, and different from industry to industry.

I think the term "small business" is neither demeaning nor degrading. It's just not aptly used, I think. If a business with such description as posted above is termed "small," what about small retail stores selling only a handful of retail basic goods and the owner is also the shopkeeper?

In general by level, "small" is followed by "medium" and then "large." In business, I wonder how do you aptly define which is small, medium, and large.
