Tom,

A great concept - The whole idea of buy, renovate and sell is very lucrative, indeed ;)

Thanks for dropping by!

Blog flipping and blog pick ups are the future. I think a whole market will evolve in the blogosphere... except that true bloggers with real content will partner up with a seller who can heavily monetize it as they create the content. So they can both reap bigger margins on the sell.

Check out this site I saw the other day called BlogPickup.com

I think they will allow blog flippers or renovators to "pick up" a dead blog, renovate and appraise it, then resell it in a marketplace, then split or give a percentage of profits to the original blogger.

Alan,

That's corret - just like flipping a house, only with faster turnaround (and often at higher margin :D)

Thanks for your comment!

For me, a blog has got to be for the long term.
Its taken me so long to build mine and build a reputation for it, it would break my heart to let it go. (even tho it still doesnt look any good)
Although, maybe the next one would be easier, and easier again after that.
But i suppose if you were good at it, and like you mention, outsourcing etc.
If theres money to be made... some people will do it.
Just like "flipping" a house.

Aaron,

That's pretty much the ideal of web property ownership.

Just like in stock trading, there are investors who are day traders and there are others who are investing for the long term, such as Warren Buffet.

IMO, blog flipping is just a different route to make money online.

In my case, I have web properties to be owned as long as I can and some others to flip.

Just like in other investments, to diversify is a good idea :)

I would personally just outsourcing someone to run well established blog rather than selling it. By selling/flipping it you are not only selling the current value of the blog, but also the potential value of the blog in the long run. If I can identify hot long-term topics and establish popular blogs, hiring people to maintain these blogs would be my way of automating my income source.
